It’s been absolutely ages since my last post. I’ve seen a few MyBlogLog visitors pop by in the interim, so I apologise for having little in the way of new content for you. You may have noticed a redesign to the site, however. That’s still on going, although expect everything to be fully-working and finalised by next week.

More importantly: My degree is now officially finished! I hope to post some details of my Uni projects next week, followed by some updates on my next career step. I’ve been in touch with a few people in the web biz, so if you’re interested in the industry, you might find it fun to read about.

Back to the title. If you follow the whole web start-up scene in the blogosphere, you’ll probably know about Michael Arringtons’ (TechCrunch.com) recent post regarding the current atmosphere in Silicon Valley. Arrington pretty much says we need another dot com bust to remove the clutter; he doesn’t seem to appreciate the way the ‘Web2.0′ hype has groomed the 400,000+ RSS subscribers he now has. Anyone can understand that, right?

Most of Arringtons’ post seems to focus on the marketing/PR glitz and glamour that has infiltrated the pure entrepreneurial/web tech/development environment. That’s fair enough - no one wants their industry to lose touch with its’ roots. Or at least it would be, if not for the fact that Arrington has MC Hammer sitting on the panel for the upcoming TechCrunch20 conference.

Nice and thoughful article. It’s true we may not know where the whole Web 2.0 is headed until another year or so. Before then we cna only hold our breath…
