The ‘Enterprise Theme’ was the very first WordPress theme (and web site) I built from scratch, and it adorned this URL for a few months earlier this year. I received several enquiries from bloggers who wanted to use the theme, and even encountered one person taking the centerpiece skyscraper image and putting it right on their own site. However, I changed over to another design and decided to auction off the Enterprise theme in aid of the OLPC Foundation.
And here it is on eBay;
And click here to see a blog dressed in the Enterprise theme (the MyBlogLog widget is only a jpg).If anyone bids, the money will go to the OLPC Foundation (*UPDATE* after reading a blog post which suggested I was using this as a commercial opportunity, I’ll also be taking the eBay and Paypal fees out of my own pocket instead of covering costs, even though I’m an unemployed 2007 graduate with no income - obviously selling off something which took me weeks to make isn’t enough to constitute charitable work), and the winner of the auction will gain exclusive rights to the theme.
I have absolutely no expectations of how much this will raise - but either way, it’s fun to auction off my own hand-made blog theme to help a very worthy cause;
It’s a highly customised blog design, so it isn’t as straight forward to install as the average WordPress theme, but I’ll include some instructions to get the theme functioning in much the same way that NeilCauldwell.com does. If you have any questions about this, please drop me an email.
I’d also like to note that a Flickr member, by the name of Trungson, allowed me to take a section of a Tokyo skyscraper photo (under creative commons licensing) to create part of the design.
If there’s anything missed in terms of going the right way about doing charity auctions, or if there’s any conflicts of interest/software licensing issues etc (I’ve removed Adsense, and it won’t be back until the auction is over), please let me know. Otherwise - Happy Bidding!
If you’d like to help promote the auction, please use the eBay auction widget, or copy/paste one of the widgets below into the sidebar on your own site;
