It looks like Facebook have just released their much anticipated Friend Lists functionality, i.e. you can now group people in private lists, and send them messages, invites etc within groups. I’ve only had a quick play with it, but it looks pretty slick so far (there’s some nice Ajax powered interactions). If Facebook build this out with more functions and privacy options, they could take their users one step closer to having a single on-line identity. This could be pretty significant for businesses built around leveraging personal information on the Web;

Well I think facebook is just late in implementing this, because hi5.com had this a longtime ago.
I though facebook.com was the innovator but I think that they are loosing their hype now and also getting some real wrong investments [IMHO]
Friend lists are long overdue, and the development team still have plenty to do to turn the current feature in to something useful - I don’t think it provides any real utility at the moment. I haven’t really used Hi5 so I wouldn’t know how it compares, although I’m sure I have a cobweb covered profile somewhere…
As for facebook losing hype - if the service loses it’s user-base I’d put money on the apps causing it.
