OfficeSnapshots.com is one of my favourite blogs. I first heard about it when it hit the front-page of Digg last year, and I’ve been a subscriber ever since. It’s always interesting to see inside the environments in which other people are spending the majority of their adult lives, i.e. the office, and that’s what Office Snapshots lets us do:

Stephen, the founder, has posted insider snaps from nearly all the top Web tech companies, including Twitter, Jaiku, Mahalo, and Facebook. I think you should check out the entire archive, but if you need a quick recommendation, one of my favourites has to be the Adlucent HQ (seen in the above pic);
Award-winning Texas based architect, Patrick Ousey of FAB Architecture, was commissioned to design the interior of Adlucent’s office. The space was designed to be open and modern, to facilitate collaboration and creativity, and to pay tribute to the high-tech spirit of Austin. The FAB Architecture team recently recieved the highest honor from the American Institute of Architects for their work on Adlucent’s new offices.
My only problem with Office Snapshots is that it understandly posts pics of more lively, decorative, and better-equipped offices than the one in which I spend most of my time. I’m lucky to have an office at all, but I do get a little jealous (and more aware of my appalling viewing angle and resulting discomfort) when I spot the Aeron chairs and the MacBook Pro elevator stands, complete with wireless bluetooth keyboards. At present, my MacBook Pro sits flat on the desk, and I’m really starting to think I need to raise my viewing angle to something like this (as seen in the KesselsKramer HQ):
That’s a good viewing angle if I ever saw one.
Does anyone know where I can get a decent laptop stand like the one in the pic? I’ll have to splash out on a keyboard too, but I think my posture is worth a few quid…although maybe not enough to hire the FAB architecture team in a bid to get the WebAppropriate HQ featured on Office Snapshots.

Hey Neil,
Thanks for the awesome writeup! I sent the link to Jose to check out too, and I’m sure he will be pleased as well. Oh, also send an email my way, I have the link for a laptop elevator, but also have a couple questions for ya
Thanks again!

OfficeSnapshots.com
No worries, Stephen. It’s not the most high profile of write-ups - but I tend to mention the site to most people I meet in person at Web technology meet-ups, so I thought I should make a post about it, too!
I think the popularity of OfficeSnapshots.com just goes to show how important the working environment is. If you can show people they’ll have a nice place to work and some decent tools for getting the job done, they’ll be far more interested in working for you. Last year, I considered applying for jobs at some of the offices featured on your site, and it was all down to the snaps!
I’d be interested in checking out the Tumblr and Automattic (WordPress) offices….
Great site, thanks for the tip.
Neil-
Thanks! We love out offices too!
Robert - you’re a lucky guy. Is that you in the picture looking deliriously happy about you and your colleague having 3 x Apple cinema displays each?
Also, was it you or your colleague who hunted down and killed the 100 year old turtle and hung the shell on the back wall (again I’m presuming that’s you in the picture)?!
