Studioso.com is a concept for social studio Web service which would make it easier for recording artists to collaborate over the net. I’ve always had an interest in music technology, and for one of my final year projects I combined my understanding of music technology & software with my new found passion for Web apps;

Studioso is only a demo interface; after only a few months of learning about the Web industry, and learning some technical expertise at the same time, I wasn’t quite ready to produce a fully functioning service for an individual University project. However, it was an indispensable learning experience (I produced business pitches, presentations, promo matrial, and business models - as well as the interface design and customer experience), and a few people have made very positive comments on the overall presentation of the business.

Studioso.com isn’t just a prototype interface, it also has a blog and a discussion forum. Both of these features can be vital for web startups and, therefore, have been included with the main interface as an example of how a new social web app would build in community functionality, outside of the main service, in order to properly maintain the customer community.

Creative Media was a group project focused on designing a company, brand, and client service for a new media consultancy. This included producing a blog for company communications and project documentation, a wiki for knowledge sharing, the branding, and the business proposition;

Our consultants, with a combined knowledge-base of music, multimedia, and web technology, can help you to create new opportunities with these technologies, and to build new business models around them.

The ‘Enterprise Theme’ for WordPress was the first site (and blog) that I designed, and a few of the visitors to the blog asked if they could use the theme on their own sites. I didn’t want to sell the design, or to position myself as a professional WordPress designer for that matter, so I tried a quick auction on eBay in aid of OLPC. It raised next to no money, unfortunately! But at least that’s one possible career path categorically crossed-off.

Away from proposing new Web businesses and apps, and putting the ideas in to XHTML/CSS, most of my final year work was based around market reports and financial analysis - some of which was tied in with part-time consultancy I provided to an executive search practice in London. I hope to post some more details on this soon.
